Position Title : Settlements Analyst II

Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for ensuring Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and Dakota Gasification Company (DGC) is receiving optimal value for its resources. The incumbent will oversee the confirmation, reconciliation and settlement of certain energy transactions related to natural gas agreements, renewable agreements, and wholesale power transactions for BEPC and DGC. This position performs detailed analysis of the calculation of the energy related transaction settlement amounts and in determining and reconciling any discrepancies.
Essential Functions:
Oversee the checkout process of purchase and sales contracts to ensure accurate settlement of gas transactions using the Energy Trade Risk Management (ETRM) system.
Oversee the financial settlement of commodities using the ETRM system. This includes providing reports to accounting.
Oversee the settlement of wind purchase power agreements with numerous counterparties using the ETRM system. This includes validating curtailments with an Energy Management System (EMS) and providing calculations for the counterparties to confirm.
Provide accurate electric energy transaction data using the Independent System Operator (ISO) settlement system to be used in monthly billings to counterparties.
Build effective working relationships with traders, counterparties, and other internal departments known as Front, Middle, and Back offices. This would include providing feedback to help guide the Marketing group.
Assist in formulating processes and procedures to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the Settlements section of the Controller division.
Qualifications:
Four-year degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field, and three years of related experience in business, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, billing, or settlement; OR
Two-year degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field, and five years of related experience in business, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, billing, or settlements.
General understanding of business practices and procedures.
Good verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with personal computers, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Must be detail oriented and be able to collaborate well with others.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
