Position Title: Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the financial planning and analysis function. Oversees the preparation of the 10-year financial forecast, annual budget as well as coordinating the development of the long-term capital plan and providing on-going forecast updates. This financial information is presented to senior management and is used in evaluating the strategic direction of Basin Electric.

Essential Functions:

  • This position requires the ability to work effectively on a cross-functional basis with colleagues of varying seniority.

  • Facilitate the development of financial forecasts and annual budgets.

  • Coordinate the development of the operating and capital budgets for the Missouri Basin Power Project.

  • Coordinate the development of capital expenditure requirements.

  • Compile and prepare consolidation of the financial forecast and budget information.

  • Monitor the impacts to the key financial ratios, metrics and liquidity associated with financial forecast and budget projections.

  • Provide ongoing updates to the forecast with the preparation of end-of-year projections. Identify trends and issues impacting the businesses on an ongoing basis including analysis of actual results to forecasted or budgeted amounts to assist in identifying trends to be considered for incorporation into future forecasts, budgets or end-of-year projections.

  • Coordinate the preparation of financial scenario modeling to assess the financial impact of various strategic options and opportunities.

  • Review industry trends and stay abreast of changes in market conditions to analyze the impact on company forecasts and to develop forecast assumptions.

  • Collaborates with team members to ensure the financial planning and forecasting system is maintained.

  • Leads and mentors a team of business professionals to ensure the team maintains quality work standards and identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.

Qualifications :

  • Strong analytical skills and experience preparing financial forecasts and performing financial scenario modeling.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a business-related field; and

  • Eight years of experience in business planning, accounting, or analysis activities.

  • Proficient in personal computers including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; and a good working knowledge of relational database concepts.

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role.

  • Able to work effectively on a cross-functional basis with colleagues of varying seniority.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
