Position Title: Mechanical Supervisor - Power Plant

Position Purpose:
This position manages the people in the mechanical group for proper maintenance to ensure continuous generation at the plant.
Essential Functions:
Maintain an efficient, thorough, and well-coordinated mechanical maintenance program by continually evaluating results and guiding staff by making recommendations and final decisions. This also involves follow-up efforts to ensure appropriate actions are carried out.
Supervise and direct mechanical maintenance personnel and coordinate maintenance crews to insure the effective and timely maintenance of plant equipment and avoid or minimize outages.
Provide input into budget planning of maintenance activities, including monitoring costs incurred and initiating specific action when appropriate.
Evaluate, recommend, and initiate work orders for the purposes of plant improvement and safety. Also, ensure designs, installations or materials used meet all applicable safety and industry codes.
Assist in hiring decisions and activities.
Recommend maintenance, schedules, and service contractors for outages and complete outage reports.
Administer the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement in a fair and consistent manner.
Qualifications :
Associate's degree in process plant technology, mechanical maintenance, or related discipline; and five years of operations/maintenance experience in a coal-based plant; or
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED); and seven years of operations/maintenance experience in a coal-based plant.
Thorough knowledge of coal-based plant equipment, appropriate test equipment, and systems.
An aptitude for mechanical diagnostics and proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Prior experience acting as a lead, in a step-up role or similar, or previous supervisory experience is required.
A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds, sitting, standing, walking; and occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 15 pounds, bending/reaching, and climbing. The incumbent uses office equipment and field tools. This position requires finger dexterity, good color vision, good hearing, and the ability to speak and perform close work. The incumbent must be able to analyze data/reports, conduct research, think independently, implement recommendations, develop plans/procedures/goals, present information to others, and work under pressure to meet deadlines. The incumbent must also be able to supervise others and evaluate performance. The position occasionally works around dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and in confined areas. The incumbent may be required to work at heights up to 600 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards, and may access all areas of the plant. This position must be respirator qualified and be able to operate cars, trucks, and other equipment.
