Position Title: Compensation and Benefits Analyst I or II

Position Purpose:

A benefits and compensation analyst is responsible for evaluating, designing, and administering employee benefit programs and compensation packages within an organization. Their primary focus is to ensure that the company offers competitive and attractive benefits and compensation plans to attract and retain top talent while adhering to budgetary constraints and legal requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in compliance activities related to ACA reporting, 5500 preparation and filing, summary plan description review and distribution, discrimination testing (all plans), HIPAA, NERC/CIP designations, and FLSA determinations. Stay on top of regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.

  • Participate in annual projects including merit/performance cycle, technical/promotions maintenance, open enrollment, and pension/retirement activities, salary surveys, market equity studies, annual pay disparity.

  • Prepare and administer Personnel Action Forms (PAF), qualifying events, job descriptions, FMLA requests, LTD paperwork, deferred compensation calculations, reporting, billing and reconciliation, orientation, and supervisor toolkit with oversight from higher level analysts and manager.

  • Coordinate benefits processing. Determine eligibility and respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and general inquires. Assist in preparing invoices related to monthly billing or compensation and benefit related expenses.

  • Update HRIS, electronic filing system, and vendor portals to ensure records are correctly maintained. Ensure Intranet has up-to-date compensation and benefits information.

  • Serve as a resource for facility representatives and managers. Update benefit handouts and checklists, review benefit documentation, and coordinate benefit initiatives. Provide guidance on FMLA leaves and coordinate the leave.

  • Assist team in gathering data for Pension, 401K and DOL (Wrap Plan) audits.

  • Participate, with oversite, in the maintenance of the cooperatives pay plans, grade system, and compensation.

  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of materials for benefits orientation, open enrollment, compensation and benefits training initiatives, and compliance related documentation.

  • Document and update standard operating procedures for assigned compensation and benefits processes.

Qualifications :

Compensation Benefits Analyst I:

  • Four-year degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; or

  • Two-year degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, and 2 years of related experience; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of related experience.

Compensation Benefits Analyst II:

  • Four-year degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, and 3 years of related experience; or

  • Two-year degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, and 5 years of related experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 7 years of related experience.

Other Requirements:

  • General knowledge of compensation and benefits, trends, and procedures.

  • Excellent organization, communication, collaboration, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Occasional travel may be required.
